International congress on the theme of The work of community-oriented policing : a utopia or a reality involved in continuous improvement of practices ?

Francopol is an organization for consultation and cooperation which aims to promote the sharing of best practices, research and reflection related to police training and expertise. Francopol has developed a number of technical committees, including one dealing more specifically with the theme of Police and citizen. ICPC is a member of the latter and represented by Serge Bruneau, director of programmes.

From October 15 to 17 2013, the Police and citizen Technical Committee organized an international congress in Mons, Belgium on the theme of The work of community-oriented policing : a utopia or a reality involved in continuous improvement of practices ?ICPC’s Director of Programmes, Serge Bruneau, prepared and led a workshop with the Mons police chief, Marc Guerin on Who should determine the orientation of a citizen-friendly police force? as well as a session entitled Viewpoints on inspiring practices where around fifteen promising practices were presented .
