Author(s) : International Centre for the Prevention of Crime

The Workshop on ''Strategies and Best Practices for Crime Prevention, in particular in relation to urban crime and youth at risk'' was organized by ICPC, in collaboration with UN HABITAT and the UN Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the support of the Federal Government of Canada.

The workshop took place on April 23rd 2005. It was one of six official workshops being held in the context of the 11th UN Congress on Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice in Bangkok, April 18-25 2005.

The workshop brought together some 20 prevention actors, representing as far as possible the regions of the world, and provided a showcase for national and city initiatives and good practices relating to urban crime and at-risk youth. It encouraged other countries to invest in well-planned strategies and practice, as well as technical assistance and exchange. The morning session focused on urban crime prevention strategies and the afternoon on youth at risk.
