Preventing Violence Against Women and Youth in Peru (2011-2014)

3 years project financed by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)

Author(s) : ICPC

This project brings together many key stakeholders in two pilot locations (San Juan de Lurigancho and Villa El Salvador) to diagnose the situation, and train and raise awareness of new and customized approaches to the prevention of violence in the Peruvian context.

Through the implementation of training, and follow-through by the participants (Peruvian and local governments, Peruvian non-governmental organizations, and the other persons directly trained in this project), the project aims to ensure the development and implementation of a local integrated strategy to reduce violence against women and youth in each of the two working class municipalities chosen.

The experience of the project can then be documented to be used to extend the approach developed to other Peruvian municipalities.
