Support Project for the Security Sector Reform - Tunisian government (2013-2014)

Since October 2013, ICPC has been providing technical assistance to the Ministry of the Interior as part of a support project for the Security Sector Reform in Tunisia, in partnership with UNDP. The mandate of ICPC is to accompany two police stations in the city of Tunis in their appropriation of the concept of community policing and the creation of a local safety committee (LSC).

To this end, the ICPC team will conduct a socio-demographic and geo-spatial analysis during a first field mission in January 2014. In addition, an expert on crime mapping from the UQAM’s (Université du Québec à Montréal) Groupe Atlas will accompany ICPC on a third and last mission to Tunis to provide the two police stations with a software tool for geo location. The officers of the two pilot police stations will receive training on using this tool, as well as other relevant training, particularly relating to crime prevention.
