Drugs and social damage

Literature’s International Review

Author(s) : Daniel Sansfacon, Olivier Barchechat, Dominique Lopez, Chantal Valade

If the question of risk or harm to health associated with the consumption of psychoactive substances is fairly well documented, it would not be the same for the social harm associated with illicit drug use or excessive alcohol consumption - particularly in terms of accidents (excluding road), violence, crime or social exclusion.

In front of this limited knowledge the OFDT have decided to conduct a state of knowledge on this subject, exercise ever undertaken in a comprehensive manner. The surveys produced in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK and France have been analyzed, as well as some Dutch, Spanish and Italian publications.
