16 ème session de la Commission sur la prévention de la criminalité et la justice pénale, Vienne
The 16th UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice takes place in Vienna from 23rd – 27th April 2007. This year one of the themes for discussion at the Commission meetings will be crime prevention and criminal justice responses to urban crime, including gang-related activities. (The second theme for discussion by Member States concerns effective strategies and practice to prevent the sexual exploitation of children). To amplify these discussions, the Programme Network Institutes attached to the Commission will, as they do every year, present a Workshop on the first theme on 23rd April, to highlight evidence-based programmes and initiatives from around the world.
The Workshop on Successful Crime Reduction and Prevention Strategies in the Urban Context will include presentations on youth crime and youth gangs, and on safe and successful offender reintegration strategies. Seven of the Institutes, including ICPC, will be presenting papers to stimulate discussion and exchange on these issues.
