Forthcoming ICPC Workshop (23 April 2005)

ICPC organizes UN Congress Workshop No. 3 on Crime Prevention

This Workshop on Strategies and Best Practices for Crime Prevention, in particular in relation to urban crime and youth at risk is being organized by ICPC, in collaboration with UN HABITAT and the UN Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the support of the Federal Government of Canada.

The workshop will take place on Saturday 23rd April 2005. It is one of six official workshops being held in the context of the 11th UN Congress on Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice in Bangkok, April 18th-25th 2005.

The workshop is intended to bring together expertise in the field of crime prevention, representing as far as possible the regions of the world, and to provide a showcase for national and city initiatives and good practices relating to urban crime and at-risk youth. It hopes to encourage other countries to invest in well-planned strategies and practice, as well as technical assistance and exchange. The morning session will focus on urban crime prevention strategies and the afternoon on youth at risk.

The Workshop Background Paper and Agenda were discussed at an Expert Group Meeting held in Paris on 3-4th December 2004.

Full details of the Congress programme, and of the other official Workshops, can be found on UNODC site which also has a link to the Thailand host site.
