Under the auspices of the
Karolinska Center of the WHO, the 14th international conference on
Safe Communities was held in Bergen (Norway), from June 13th until June 15th. Daniel Sansfacon was invited to give a presentation, and provide examples of successful crime prevention practices (

The conference was also an opportunity to discover a new side of our friend and colleague Erik Brekke, Director at Vesta Insurance Company (pictured to the left of Daniel Sansfacon). In addition to being fully committed to crime prevention through his involvement in developing and supporting the community based Norwegian programme
Night Ravens, Erik revealed his talent as a skilled event manager. He is very passionate about arts and music, and several musical performances and arts exhibitions were interweaved throughout the conference.
Furthermore, during the conference the city of Bergen was named a safe city and a member of the Safe Communities’ network. The conference also provided an opportunity to further enhance ties with our colleagues in Norway, especially on issues pertaining to community and problem oriented policing.
