Community Policing Award, Ministry of Public Safety of Quebec
The first recipient of the Annual Award of merit in community policing by the Ministry of Public Safety: Ms Sylvie MANTHA
Within the framework of the 1st francophone Colloquium « La police et les citoyens» (Police and Citizens), the Ministry of Public Safety of Quebec granted its 1st annual award in community policing, along with a scholarship of 2 000 $.
The objective of this Award of the Ministry of Public Safety is to recognize the efforts of organizations or individuals who have distinguished themselves through the implementation, development, promotion and advancement of the community policing approach. The annual award in community policing mainly aims at underlining the quality of interventions in community policing. These interventions are either of theoretical or practical nature, and must have contributed to the enhancement of the community policing approach within the province of Quebec.
This first Award was given by Mr Paul GIRARD, Associate Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Public Safety in Quebec, to Ms Sylvie MANTHA, who holds a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in psychology, and a Masters degree from the School of Criminology at the University of Ottawa. Ms MANTHA is currently an advisor on crime prevention at the Police Department of the City of Gatineau.
