Funding of prevention projects in Canada
On November 18, 2005, the Honorable Jean C. Lapierre and Mr. Jacques P. Dupuis announced over $1.6 million in funding from Canada’s National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS) to support crime prevention projects across Quebec. In all, 48 different projects, which address a range of issues from youth, minorities, and drugs to homelessness have been selected to receive funds.
Earlier this month, the Canadian Government also announced more than $1 million to help build safer communities in British Columbia, and more than $690,000 to help build safer communities in Alberta.
