Strategic Plan 2006-2010

ICPC Launches Strategic Plan for the next Five Years

ICPC’s 2006-2010 Strategic Plan was adopted in October 2005 by the Board. To commemorate the event, ICPC hosted on November 21st a cocktail party attended by almost 80 people representing at least 11 different countries, including representatives from the Government, NGO’s, civil society workers, and universities and research institutes.

ICPC’s strategic plan for the next five years is centered on 4 main objectives: ICPC must become an international leader in the area of crime prevention; ICPC must ensure the promotion of crime prevention and the important role of civil society cities and local authorities; ICPC must provide technical assistance and training support to actors in the field of prevention; Finally, ICPC must consolidate its role as a knowledge centre.

Given the changes which have affected the world since the inception of ICPC, the latter created the new strategic plan to address the emerging challenges in a world that now seems much smaller. The organization will work to move ‘from a knowledge base towards an international observatory on prevention’, notable among its new endeavours is the forthcoming Biennial Report on the State of Crime Prevention in the World. ICPC will move ‘from a dissemination role towards affirmation as the centre of expertise’, by augmenting its international visibility and utility. Insofar as technical assistance, ICPC will further entrench its role as ‘a centre for cooperation at the international level’.
