Nacro Event Youth spaces- Creating public places where young people can feel safe, Birmingham Rep, UK June 8, 2004
Youth spaces are designated areas where young people can ‘hang out’ in relative safety without being moved on by the police or perceived as a threat by other members of the community. Local agencies across the country see youth spaces as a valuable tool in their efforts to promote social inclusion and reduce youth offending. The conference will hear from a wide range of speakers from local and national government, voluntary organisations, universities and other agencies. This conference aims to answer the questions: What are youth spaces? Why have designated youth spaces? Who are youth spaces for? What practical difficulties have to be overcome when planning and running youth spaces? This event will also be a valuable opportunity for practitioners to network and share good practice.
