Call for PapersCrime in Australia : International Connections Hilton on the Park Melbourne, 29-30 November 2004 This two-day conference will examine existing and emerging forms of criminality, the impact on Australia, and the links to transnational crime.borders and to international criminal activities. While Australia is more secure than many countries, the changing trends in crime present new threats and new challenges. What are the emerging trends? What is our understanding of these changes? How is the criminal justice system responding?
This two-day conference will examine existing and emerging forms of criminality, the impact on Australia, and the links to transnational crime, as well as policy and practitioner responses.
Day 1 will describe and assess current issues in criminality including: firearms, illicit drugs financial crime and money laundering, cybercrime, maritime crime and sea piracy, people smuggling, crimes against women and children, violent and property crime, intellectual property crime, and environmental crime
Day 2 will evaluate the available response strategies and examine problems of enforcement, regulation and control. Key topics will include: crime prevention agencies and measures, policing responses, technological responses,harmonisation of laws, financial system regulatory controls, public and private sector coordination, international responses to transnational crime, and victim responses. Call for papers
The conference program will consist of invited international and local speakers and selected papers from interested persons in concurrent sessions.
If you are interested in presenting a paper please prepare the following:
A brief abstract (approximately 150 words) Two paragraph personal profile Details of some papers you have presented in the past (i.e. paper title, where it was presented and date of presentation)
The closing date for submissions is 30 July 2004.
