The European Forum for Urban Safety recently submitted a proposal for a pilot training programme which aims to improve the relationship between increasingly diverse EU populations and grass-root agents, within the framework of local crime prevention policies. With the influx of migrant populations into European Union member states, local policies in the field of violence and crime prevention needed redress, particularly in terms of the training provided to local officials. A newly implemented network of local actors, with different political, demographic, and cultural qualities, constitute part of the pilot programme, which is expected to begin in 2005 and last for fifteen months.
